An independent cultural mediation project capturing Liège's heritage through 360° panoramas and an AI guide — designed, photographed and built by Thierry Lechanteur.
The AI guide has answered 221 questions from visitors exploring the works. Here are the questions asked most often — a window onto what captures attention most.
Panoramas that sparked the most questions with the AI guide.
Behind every panorama, the AI guide draws on a body of documentary material — historical context, anecdotes, artwork descriptions and a structured record for each work. Measured with Anthropic's tokenizer (the very one the guide runs on), this corpus amounts to 356,732 tokens spread across the 100 works of the catalogue — roughly as much text as a novel like Alexandre Dumas's The Three Musketeers.
Liège Inside is an independent digital cultural mediation project. It allows exploring the heritage of the Cité Ardente through immersive 360° panoramas, each accompanied by an AI guide that goes beyond the traditional label.
The project is entirely self-funded, with no advertising. It is not an official site of the institutions represented — La Boverie, the Prince-Bishops' Palace, the Royal Opera of Wallonia, the Cathedral Treasury of Saint-Paul, and the other venues.
The 360° panoramas are photographed and assembled by Thierry Lechanteur using specialised equipment. Each artwork has a dedicated AI guide, powered by Anthropic's Claude API and fed by original documentary research. The guide does not replace official labels: it enriches them with historical context, anecdotes, and connections between works.
